From June 17th to June 28th, Professor Luis Issolio from the Instituto de Investigación en Luz, Ambiente y Visión de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (Argentina), will be visiting CD6. Luís Issolio is full profesor in humane factors in illumination and electronics. Professor Issolio is also an independent researcher from CONICET (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas).
Professor Issolio will give two talks:
-
Tuesday, June 18th: Early Visual Processing
-
Tuesday, June 25th: Visual Psychophysics & Circadian Light.
Both talks will take place at 11:00 at CD6 library.
Research interest
His research activity is focused on basic and applied vision, including the study of visual optics and the initial processes of visual information. It investigates the response of the human visual system to the illuminated environment, evaluating visual functions in people who face lighting conditions of interest in lighting engineering, such as mesopic adaptation levels and dazzling sources. These studies are carried out using both psychophysical methodology and optical systems. The results of the experiments carried out allow us to understand the effects of lighting on both the eye and the retina-brain processing to achieve image representation. From an applied point of view, the research results are aimed at establishing visual parameters, methods and measurement conditions to characterize the vision of vehicle drivers or clinical groups.
Over the past 3 years, he has worked as Head of the Light, Environment and Vision Research Institute (ILAV), which include the formulation of institutional projects for the consolidation of new lines of research. On the other hand, Professor Issolio has directed and co-directed 8 PIUNT, CONICET, PIP and PICT research projects of the ANPCyT; he has participated as a member in 16 other research projects; he has co-directed 9 international research cooperation projects with groups from Spain (CD6-UPC) and Brazil (USP); he has directed 6 doctoral theses and 3 master's degrees. He is the author of 47 articles in indexed journals (292 citations, h-index=11), 13 articles in conference proceedings, 29 abstracts in journal supplements and 2 book chapters.
