Mobility

Current and future mobility systems will make an intensive use of photonics solutions, specially in all sorts of autonomous vehicles. Mass transportation systems have already a high dependence on photonics sensors, since they provide safety enhancement, efficiency, and connectivity in vehicles. Photonics is used extensively in mobility, including sensors for collision avoidance and autonomous driving, efficient lighting systems, high-resolution displays for critical information, high-speed communication systems or supporting the driver in making decisions about the different events that may be encountered, to mention a few.

Future photonics powered developments will include LIDAR for 3D high-speed and high-resolution mapping in all weather conditions, infrared sensors to detect pedestrians or animals in the dark, or advanced head-up displays.
