Opto-mechanical design

Optical design is the art and science of creating optical systems to control and manipulate the behavior of light.

It involves the careful selection and arrangement of optical components to achieve specific outcomes such as focusing, magnification, or dispersion. Optical design plays a crucial role in various applications, including cameras, telescopes, microscopes or laser systems, among many others, to achieve the expected performance and functionality.

Current optical design involves the use of advanced software tools that allow a precise simulation of light propagation across an optical setup, including the optical contribution of the optomechanical components or the response of optoelectronic devices included in the system. These simulations tools are able to provide detailed results of extremely complex systems, that match lab validations. In the hands of an expert optical designer, optical simulation opens the possibility of solving real-world challenges in an effective and affordable manner.
