Improving efficiency of integrated pest control using photonics engineering

Nowadays, there are very harmful insect pests for fruit crops, which need to be accurately monitored to extinguish them in time. CD6 has successfully completed the development of the AUTOMATIC HYPERSPECTRAL PEST COUNTER, a system based on multispectral imaging technology, which will make it possible to obtain images of insect traps and provide automatic real-time counts. The system has been optimized for the detection of California red scales, which affect citrus crops, a sector in which Spain reports 25% approximately of the total of the production of the European Union, and has had the support of companies and clusters in the agricultural sector.

This project has been co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and has the support of the Secretariat of Universities and Research of the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
