The TECNIO Association is created

The TECNIO Association, set up on 8th November, is made up of the 59 research groups that currently hold the TECNIO accreditation granted by ACCIÓ, a seal that identifies technology developers in Catalonia to facilitate their connection with companies.

The aim of the new entity is to group and make visible the activity of the research groups with the TECNIO seal, to encourage their collaboration and to promote them as an instrument of connection between private companies and the administration. In addition to the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC), the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, ​​the Universitat de Barcelona, ​​the Universitat de Girona, the Universitat de Lleida, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the Universitat Ramon Llull, the Rovira i Virgili University, the University of Vic, the I-CERCA foundation and the CSIC are also founding members of the association, with the aim of accelerating the knowledge transfer from research laboratories to society.

The presentation of the new association, which took place on November 8th at the UAB, was attended by the Minister of Business and Labor, Roger Torrent; the Minister of Research and Universities, Gemma Geis; the General Director of Industry and CEO of ACCIÓ, Natàlia Mas; the Director General of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Lluís Juncà; the rector of the UAB, Javier Lafuente, and the president of the TECNIO Association, Nora Ventosa. On behalf of the UPC, the researcher Santiago Royo, director of the Center for Sensors, Instruments and Systems Development (CD6), will act as vice-president of the Association.
