PATRONUS: Novel industrial process for Speckle pattern sheets

The PATRONUS project ("New industrial process for the manufacture of speckle pattern sheets"), funded by the RETOS-Colaboración program (RTC2019-007422-4) has begun in September of this year and brings together 4 national partners such as SNELLOPTICS, TECNAN, the Technological Center Lurederra and CD6-UPC, the center for the development of sensors, instrumentation and systems of the Technical University of Catalonia. The main objective of this project is to develop a novel industrial sheet manufacturing process that generates a speckled pattern. The technologies presented by these sheets, such as facial recognition in mobile telephony, are based on speckle interferometry, which consists of the analysis of intensity patterns, which can be given by a sheet with a determined pattern on the surface. These patterns are a valuable source of information about the illuminated surface since, by means of software, it allows the 3D reconstruction of what is illuminated.
