INTELFOT - Intelligent photonics-based system for integrated pest management

The consortium formed by CD6 and the company Comercial Química Massó S.A. has recently started the development of the INTELFOT project, which has the support of ACCIÓ (Agència per a la Competitivitat de l'Empresa of the Generalitat de Catalunya) through a grant of the INNOTEC program (2019 call). The objective of this project is to develop an intelligent system based on photonic tools and automated data processing that allows geolocalized monitoring of the evolution of pests that affect fruit and vegetable production, so as to improve their integrated management. This objective tries to respond to the current need for agile tools that allow collect pest population data throughout the territory and provide clear, real-time information to the farmer on the actions that he must carry out to control them and minimize their impact. With the new system that is being developed, it will be possible to improve decision-making, implement more environmentally friendly strategies by optimizing the necessary dose of pesticide products, as well as the time and place of their application, and promote the use of alternative non-chemical products (biological and biotechnological control), as established by the new regulations of the European Union.
