Project

Accumulated Sensor for Pollution

Summary

AS4P project's objective is to develop new industrial processes to design, manufacture and control the qualitative measurement sensors of pollution levels accumulated in outdoors media. The method proposed is an optical qualitative measure based on scattering due to pollution that alters the conformation of the beams and the reflectivity of nanotechnology membranes designed to contaminants and bacteria immobilization.

The objective includes the review of the traditional strategies in optical design to suit the characteristics of this new measurement sensors and also specific monitoring systems to provide the necessary data to validate and review the manufacturing process at any stage.

As a validation of the technology, specific applications in the field of qualitative measure of pollution will be developed, such as the measurement of accumulated pollution on monuments and historic buildings or tunnels in the road network.
